The Speech Of Plants

The Speech Of plants

I don’t know what to say really
One land, three hours
To the end of the hardest workday of your professional lives
Tomorrow it’s gonna rain, so it all comes down to today
Either, we heal as a farm or we gonna crumble

Inch by inch
Plant by plant
Till we’re finished
We are in hell in a no-man’s-land right now, folks
Believe me
And
We can stay here
And let the sun kick the shit out of us
Or
We can fight our way back into the light
We can plant out of hell
One plant at a time

Now, I can’t plant for you
I’m too old
I look around and I see these young farmers
And I think
I Mean
I made every wrong choice a middle age farmer could make
I uhh
I pissed away 9000 plants today
Believe it or not
I chased off many trainees that didn’t love me
And lately
I can’t even stand the farmers I see

You know, when you get old in life
Trainees get taken from you.
That’s, that’s a part of being a host family
But, you only learn that when you start losing staff.
You find out that life is just a game of inches.
So is farming
Because in either life or farming
The margin for error is so small
I mean
One plant too late or too early
They don’t grow big enough
One half second too slow or too fast, you don’t plant it right.
The plants we need are everywhere around us.
They are in every field, every land, and in every tray.
On this farm we fight for that plant

On this farm, we tear ourselves and everyone around us to pieces for that plant.
We claw with our fingernails for that plant.
Cause we know
When we add up all the plants
That’s going to make the fucking difference
Between harvesting or not harvesting
Between earning money or losing money
Between LIVING and DYING!

I’ll tell you this
At any farm
It is the guy who is willing to plant
Who is going to harvest
And I know if I am going to harvest anymore
It is because you are still willing to fight and die for that plant
Because that’s what FARMING is.
Every single plant in front of your face.
Every single plant in front of your face.
No I can’t make you do it.
You gotta look at the farmer next to you. Look into his eyes.
Now, I think you are going to see a guy who will plant those plants with you.
You are going to see a farmer who will sacrifice himself for these plants.
Because he know, when it comes down to it,
You are gonna do the same thing for him.
You gotta look at the farmer next to you. Look into his eyes.
That’s a farm, trainees.
And either we heal now, as a farm
Or we will die unemployed.
That’s farming guys, that’s all it is.
Now, what are you gonna do?
